SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE
Welcome to Mesa Verde National Park's ParkNet site! We sincerely hope you will find this site a useful tool to help you plan a visit or learn more about Mesa Verde.
One hundred years ago, on June 29, 1906, Mesa Verde National Park was created and was the first national park set aside to "preserve the works of man." The 2006 centennial year certainly marks a century of history in the park, but also celebrates over 700 years of settlement on these mesas by the Ancestral Puebloan people who once flourished here. To commemorate this milestone, park staff, partners, local communities and affiliated tribes have planned a series of events to celebrate Mesa Verde National Park's first 100 years and to launch a vision for the next 100 years. Come join us in 2006 for this special celebration and participate in any of many special activities, tours and events during Year and help us celebrate 100 years as a National Park.
